Sd Kfz 171 Panther Ausf G Late Production Air Defense Armour

The Panther was introduced into service in 1943 in response to the Russian T-34 exhibiting the same sloped armour design which increased the effective thickness of armour as well as improving shot deflection. The Panther was armed with the lethal high velocity KwK 42 L/70 75mm gun as well as two MG34.

With Allied air superiority, some Ausf G were also uparmoured to protect against air attack including the addition of additional armour plates on both the turret and engine deck.
