Hawker Tempest Mk V

The Tempest was a WWII British fighter bomber derived from the Hawker Typhoon. The Tempest had a thinner wing to improve airflow and improve performance at higher altitudes.

The Tempest V was with squadrons in April 1944 where they specialised in long range sorties into enemy territory in a ground attack role. By June 1944 with the first V-1 bombs flying over London and the South East, Tempests were ideally suited, with their excellent low altitude performance, to deal with this threat.
