Leopard 2A7 Main Battle Tank

The Leopard 2 was developed by Germany in the early 1970s and entered service in 1979. It was armed with a 120mm Rheinmetall L/44 smoothbore gun which was later replaced with the L/55 and two 7.62mm MG3A1 machine guns.

A number of subsequent improvements have been made to the Leopard 2. The A6 featured the Rheinmetall 120mm L/55 smoothbore gun. The A7 has been adapted to fire high explosive as well as other internal system improvements.

It remains in service today as Germany's main battle
