JGSDF Type 10 Main Battle Tank
The Type 10 entered service in 2012 and is produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It is armed with a 120mm smoothbore gun developed by Japan Steel Works which can fire the special, newly developed, Type 10 APFSDS round which is unique to the Type 10. This has been designed to penetrate reactive armour such as Kontakt-5. In addition it can also fire 120mm NATO ammunition. The Type 10 has nano crystal steel armour and modular ceramic composite armour.
