KV-1 (Western Front, 1942)
The KV-1 Model 1942 was a later variant of the KV-1 with thicker armour, a cast turret, an improved engine and a better 76mm Zis-5 gun. At the time of the German invasion of the Soviet Union, 500 KV were in service. Although eventually outclassed by the Tiger I in 1942, the KV was subsequently redesigned to house an 85mm gun in the KV-85.
This kit depicts a KV-1 serving with 2nd Battalion, 145th Armoured Brigade on the Russian Western Front during 1942.
