BMP-2D Infantry Fighting Vehicle

The BMP-2 is a second generation amphibious tracked infantry fighting vehicle introduced in the 1980s and based on the BMP-1. The BMP-2 is armed with a 30mm automantic cannon 2A42 and a 9M113 Konkurs Anti Tank Guided Missiles as well as a 7.62mm PKTM machine gun. The BMP-2D is an assault version with additional spaced armour including applique armour on the turret. Due to the heavier weight the BMP-2D is not amphibious. They saw service in Afghanistan in 1979.
