M30 Ammunition Carrier

The M12 was based on the M4 Sherman chassis with an armoured drivers compartment and the addition of a spade at the rear to absorb recoil. The gun was mounted in an open top platform. Produced in 1942 and 1943, 74 M12 were produced for NW Europe in 1944. They suffered from a lack of space for ammunition with only 10 projectiles being carried in the GMC itself. This lead to the M30 Cargo Carrier for carrying crew and ammunition. In practice the M12 and M30 worked in pairs.
