M32 Tank Recovery Vehicle with T1E1 Mine Roller
The M32 was developed as a Tank Recovery Vehicle (TRV) based on a standard M4 Sherman hull. The standard turret and 75mm gun was replaced with a fixed turret and 81mm mortar which could fire smoke shells. A pivoting A-frame jib was mounted on the hull with a 60,000lb winch. The T1E1 "Earthworm" Mine Roller mounted three steel mine rollers in front of the tank. Each roller comprised six loosely mounted, 2" wide and 4' diameter steel discs.
