RAM Mk II Cruiser Tank

The RAM Cruiser Tank was a Canadian tank developed from the M3 chassis. The restrictions of the original M3 which lacked a turret for it's main gun meant that the RAM design had to house a 6 pounder in a turret or even a 75mm. The subsequent design used a cast hull which provided more protection than a welded hull. Early vehicles were armed with a 40mm 2 pounder gun due to insufficient supplies of the 6 pounder. Around 2,000 RAM were produced between 1941 and 1943.
