SU-122P Self Propelled Gun

The SU-122P was developed in July 1944 and was based on the SU-85 chassis which in turn was based on the T34/85 chassis. After delays in the development of the SU-100, a 122mm D-25S cannon was fitted to an SU-85 as a stop gap measure. The SU-122P was trialed in October 1944 but despite passing its tests - the shell was capable of pentrating 139mm at 2km - never entered service due to its low rate of fire. The crew consisted of a commander, gunner, loader and driver.
