The 2S19 "MSTA-S" entered service in 1989 replacing the earlier 2S3 Akatsiya. It is based on the T-80 chassis and powered by the T-72's V-84A diesel engine. The MTSA-S can be deployed as a towed gun or as here, fitted to an armoured self propelled mount. It can fire 6-8 rounds per minute. The vehicle is also fitted with a 12.7mm NSVT machine gun. Around 1,130 have been produced since it entered service.
