Challenger is a development of the Centurion/Chieftain line. The main differences between Challenger 1 and its predecessor are the Condor V-12 diesel engine and the state-of-the-art Chobham Armour. The Challenger is equipped with the powerful 120mm L11 A5 Cannon and two 7.62mm machine guns. Challenger 1 took part in Operation Desert Storm where the Iraqi forces failed to take a single vehicle out of combat while Challenger destroyed roughly 300 Iraqi tanks.
