"Kubus" Armoured Car - Warsaw Uprising 1944

The "Kubus" armoured car was an improvised design between 8th and 25th August 1944 built by the soldiers of the Polish Home Army in the workshops of the power plant district of Warsaw. The "Kubus" was designed to carry 10-12 troops with sufficient armour to protect against small arms and artillery shrapnel. It mounted steel plates on a Chevrolet truck chassis with a wood gas generator. Bolted shielding was added to protect the wheels. The "Kubus" was armed with a PIAT, a LMG and small arms.
