The Marmon Herrington was based on a Ford 3 ton truck chassis. The Mk I entered service with the British in 1940 and was armed with a single 0.303 Vickers machine gun. It served against Italian forces in the Western Desert. Some Mk I and Mk II were fitted with captured German and Italian guns. This version has been fitted with a 20mm Breda Model 35. The existing turret could not house the bigger armament so that the turret was removed and the weapon fitted with a gun shield.
