Leyland DAF DROPS Logistics Vehicle

This vehicle was introduced in 1991 as a military version of the Leyland T45 Roadtrain. Initially this was developed as a 6x6 vehicle it was finalised as an 8x8 truck with a Rolls Royce Perkins 350 Eagle engine. The DROPS system (Demountable Rack Offload & Pickup System) was designed to allow the truck to offload a 20 foot frame ISO container avoiding the need to load and unload trucks using forklifts. This allowed for a reduction in storage space in depots as well as the faster supplies.
