T-34/85 with D5-T Gun

The T34/85 was an upgunned version of the original T34/76 - an excellent tank which took the Germans completely by surprise. With it's effective D5-T 85mm gun, it's sloping armour and wide tracks the T34 was well suited to fighting in the terrible conditions of the Russian winter. The D5-T gun was used during the first production runs of the T-34/85 between February and March 1944. This varaint was also referred to as the Model 1943. The gun was later replaced by the ZIS-S-53 for the Model 1944.
